Led by Beaux Harris, performer and teacher, alongside participants Louis and Mary, each workshop focuses on specific tap dance elements. These sessions accommodate various skill levels, allowing you to explore the art of tap from the comfort of your own home.

This is a beginner level workshop. No need to own tap shoes to take part, you can simply wear hard soled shoes or trainers!

Close work and basic rhythm

5 minutes

Close work refers to tap movements that happen in close proximity to the floor. Basic rhythm is the pulse and timing that underlines all movements and steps. In this workshop we will learn about even and accented rhythm while being introduced to close work taps.

Two-sounded step

Starting by learning the pendulum, this workshop will guide us to learn the shuffle – arguably the most popular two-sounded step in tap!

Travelling step

5 minutes

This workshop puts tap steps together to get you to travel, even if you are in a small space! Beaux will guide us through the riff and the tap step ball change which you may recognise from most musical theatre productions!

Beaux guides us through several elements of tap while incorporating arm movements, change of direction and style. This is your chance to express yourself to Footloose! You can rewind the section with the music as many times as you like to really make it your own!
