A theatrical ritual of joy and celebration
This production is a celebration of joy, creation, and the profound power of female connection.
MAGNIFICAT is inspired by the biblical event The Visitation. When the Virgin Mary meets her cousin Elizabeth, both pregnant, Elizabeth is overcome with elation and shares a blessing, and Mary in return shares a hymn of faith known as the Magnificat.
María Moreno channels this remarkable moment into a flamenco ritual of shared wonder. Through her dance, she asks: What happens to bodies overcome by joy? How does celebration live in movement, voice, and presence?
With Moreno as our guide, she narrates the story through dance joined by an ensemble of performers and musicians. Together they craft a poetic and physical journey where dance, sound, and spirit collide. This is not just a performance; it’s a living fiesta – an act of collective exultation.

Header image description: A female flamenco dancer mid-spin. She wears a long pale pink dress with four tiers of ruffles on the skirt and a long train. She twirls a large pale pink shawl with long tassels around as she spins. The background is black, with some small paper lanterns lit up in the distance.
The Cádiz-born dancer transforms the biblical encounter between Mary and Elizabeth into a flamenco celebration brimming with joy and complicity.
