Company Wayne McGregor Wayne McGregor’s Autobiography (v95 and v96)
Innovative technology and revolutionary choreography come together in a work which is never the same twice.
Genetic code, AI and choreography merge in a work that re-imagines and remakes itself anew for every performance.
Wayne McGregor has always explored the complex relationship between the body and technology in this work. In 2017, McGregor created Autobiography (1.0) as a reflection on the body as an archive. This was to be the first in a series of unique performances, inspired and instructed by his own genetic code.
In later versions, the company began to integrate an AI tool called AISOMA into the process. Created by Google Arts & Culture, this tool was shown hundreds of hours of McGregor’s choreography and now presents fresh movement options to the performers.
Now the 95th and 96th iterations of Autobiography come to Sadler’s Wells in a captivating evening that is never quite the same as before.

Image description: A few chairs sit on a light coloured stage with a black background. There are stark celling lights which look like they could be from an office. Around the chairs are performers moving. We can’t see any of their details as they are blurred in movement. They are wearing white, grey and black colours.
