Moss, leaves and trees form a heart shape. Inside the heart is a sunset and a couple kissing. One has scissors for hands.

The enchanting tale of an extraordinary boy who brings a slice of magic to an ordinary town…

Matthew Bourne’s magical dance production of Edward Scissorhands has carved a place in the hearts of audiences world-wide since its premiere in 2005.

Based on the classic Tim Burton movie and featuring the hauntingly beautiful music of Danny Elfman and Terry Davies, Bourne and his New Adventures Company return to this witty, bittersweet story of an incomplete boy left alone in a strange new world.

In a castle high on a hill lives Edward; a boy created by an eccentric inventor. When his creator dies he is left alone and unfinished with only scissors for hands until a kindly townswoman invites him to live with her suburban family. Can Edward find his place in the well-meaning community which struggles to see past his curious appearance to the innocence and gentleness within?

Image description: In the centre of this image is a heart shape made from trees, moss, leaves and other greenery bending around to form the heart. In front of the heart are four human figures also made up from the same greenery. Two are sitting and two are standing with their arms reaching towards the ground. Within the heart shape is a sunset. The sky is blue, pink and yellow and you can see the sun just peaking out behind two characters standing silhouetted in the heart. They are kissing. One wearing a dress, the other with messy hair and scissors for hands.

Sensory Adapted Performances A Sensory Adapted Performance is an extension of a Relaxed Performance. To create a less formal but supportive environment, the show is modified by reducing sound levels and special effects, and other technical adaptations are made to soften contrasts. As with a Relaxed Performance, Sensory Adapted Performances support noise and movement within the auditorium during a show, re-entry when needed so house lights are left on throughout, and a separate chill-out space for anyone who might need it at any time during their visit. We also provide a Visual Story so people can familiarise themselves with the theatre and key details about the show in advance.
Audio Described Performances There are a limited number of Stalls seats reserved for partially sighted patrons, and headsets available for those wishing to listen to the audio description, please email tickets@sadlerswells.com if you wish to book these options
Touch Tour To accompany the Audio Described performance, visually impaired patrons can go on a Touch Tour before the performance. Your tour guide will take you backstage, or onto the stage itself, to feel costumes and pieces of the set and learn more about the production.
