This is an intoxicating evening featuring the bold and beautiful choreography of Sharon Eyal and Damien Jalet; expect high energy, high fashion and high floors.

GöteborgsOperans Danskompani presents an electrifying evening of work by Sadler’s Wells Associate Artist, Sharon Eyal, and Damien Jalet. Israeli-born choreographer Eyal is known for her distinctive choreography; muscular, sensual and draped in the costumes of high fashion houses. French Belgian choreographer Jalet works across disciplines such as visual arts, music, cinema, theatre and fashion in a constant reinvention of the boundaries of dance.

Skid

The smash hit Skid, with a dance floor tilted at 34°, challenges the dancers beyond gravity. At times epic, dangerous, humorous or moving, Skid creates a new landscape of physical possibilities.

The slope has been created by New York artists Jim Hodges and Carlos Marques da Cruz and is inspired by the measurement of earth’s gravitational acceleration measurement of 9.8 meters per second. On this stunning set, the dancers perform with playful and multi-functional costumes by fashion designer Jean-Paul Lespagnard. Set to an evocative backdrop of electro-acoustic music by Christian Fennesz and lighting design by Joakim Brink.

SAABA

Mesmerising dance meets strong attitude in the creations of Sharon Eyal. Her distinctive style has a hypnotic, pulsating power.

Eyal collaborates with Dior’s Creative Director Maria Grazia Chiuri for the costume design. The duo has collaborated several times before, primarily in Dior’s seasonal fashion collections.

SAABA marks Eyal’s third collaboration with GöteborgsOperans Danskompani, following the success of Untitled Black (2012) and Autodance (2018). Most recently, she came to Sadler’s Wells with Chapter 3: The Brutal Journey of the Heart, the final instalment in the Love Cycle trilogy.

One of Europe’s foremost contemporary dance companies, GöteborgsOperans Danskompani is formed of 38 dancers from over 20 countries. Katrín Hall has been artistic director since 2016, with the company attracting the world’s leading choreographers to Gothenburg to create new, revolutionary works.
