Jagoda Kamov Artist-Led Session
Interior / Exterior
+ £4.00 transaction fee
Interior / Exterior is a workshop for artists interested in the physical life of text — the impulses, distances and shifts in scale that exist inside a line before it is spoken.
Every line carries an instruction for the body. Some words are exterior: they ask to travel, to be thrown across a room, to open the body and address the space. Others are interior: a single word can pull the body inward, lower the voice, reduce the gesture or bring the audience closer. Most text moves between the two. It is in these shifts — between expansion and contraction, exposure and concealment, distance and proximity — that another layer of meaning emerges.
Working with a short piece of prose or a monologue, participants will explore how the physical impulses within language can generate movement, rhythm, gesture, voice and spatial relationships. Rather than illustrating the text, the body becomes another way of reading it.
The workshop invites performers, directors and writers to revisit text through the body — listening for what a sentence asks the performer to do, where it wants the body to go, and what can be communicated before the words are fully understood.
This is an in-person session. If you would prefer to attend this workshop via Zoom, please click here for further information and to book.

About Jagoda Kamov
Jagoda Kamov is an award-winning writer, director and producer based in London, working across theatre, film and performance. Her body-led practice explores psychologically complex characters within contained worlds, where people construct masks, rituals, fantasies and systems to avoid confronting what has already happened. She is interested in the tension between interior and exterior life, and in how the body, gesture, rhythm, image, space and
text can expose what lies beneath behaviour.
She trained in Shakespeare and Greek Tragedy at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, Physical Theatre Dramatic Corporeal Mime(Etienne Decroux)Jorge Correa Bethencourt and Butoh, and has further developed her practice through work with Mike Alfreds, Barbara Houseman, Chris Evans of Gecko, Finn Morrell of Temper Theatre and Joseph Lynch, as well as through the Young Vic. A former Babel Theatre artist in residence, she is a Young Vic Directors Programme member. Her work includes Puggo’s Dream, Coco, The Dumb Man, Into the Sublime and We Are All Fish, presented at Theatro Technis, The Gate, Camden People’s Theatre, Arcola LAB and Voilà Festival. Her screen work includes Marvel Morbius and The Union, spanning performance, additional crew and stunts. She also leads community movement and physical-theatre workshops.
