The Dance Floor is the place for you to celebrate dance with us at Sadler’s Wells East in Stratford.
Join us in our light-filled foyer for a range of free activities and events for people of all ages and backgrounds, local community groups and guest artists.
The Dance Floor is home to dance classes & workshops, community and artist takeovers, family activities, open dance sessions, talks, DJ nights and more.

The Dance Floor is Black at Sadler’s Wells East
June – September
As part of The Music Is Black Festival, presented by East Bank, we’re throwing open our doors for you to come dance with us.
Across four weekends, Sadler’s Wells East will become the social dance hub for the festival. Saturdays will feature Family Dance events in early afternoon, followed by curated club nights in the evenings. Across the festival four incredible choreographers respond to different themes of the festival celebrating Black British music.
¿Bailas? / Wanna Dance? - A Tango Takeover
Saturday 27 June
Come as you are and move together in this joyful celebration of Argentine Tango – A social dance floor open to everyone. Hosted by Tango Sur, this event is full of music, embrace, community and culture – bringing The Dance Floor to life.
YFX: Workshops
14 – 18 July
A week-long celebration of young dancers, makers and movers from across the UK.
Our workshop programme for experience dancers will be brought to you from a range of artists and UK Companies: Boy Blue, Far From The Norm, Uchenna Dance, Studio Wayne McGregor, Hofesh Shechter Company and our very own Academy Breakin’ Convention.
YFX: Boy Blue Frontline Youth Battle
Saturday 18 July
Join Boy Blue at this explosive dance battle, with an electric atmosphere provided by a line-up of guest judges and a live DJ.

Do you like to dance? Looking for a space to practice your moves? Check the schedule for our regular The Floor Is Yours sessions. Whatever your skill level, come use the floor for free.
Family Freestyle – Dance Workshops
Does your child love to move? Family Freestyle will get you and your little ones dancing together and having fun. These workshops for children aged 2-4 and their carers are led by professional dance artists.
Culture Club
Culture Club encourages you to discover new passions (or develop existing ones) through talks, workshops and more, exploring creativity, wellbeing and dance.

Stomp and Stamp Trail
An interactive trail for 2-8 year olds at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park – created with Discover Children’s Story Centre and East Bank. Follow the map, visit the beautiful buildings and collect the stamps at each of the stops. What can you see as you stomp around the trail?
