What are the pathways for young dancers in the UK? What is happening in youth dance across the country? And what are the topics that matter most to those of us working in youth dance?

At the heart of YFX is our first Symposium – an inspiring day of talks and discussions on dance for young people designed for those of us who are making it happen.

This free session is open to artists, teachers, producers, youth workers, freelancers or those representing a venue.

To kick things off we’ll hear from speakers from across the sector, as well as those who matter most – young people themselves.

Then in the afternoon YOU decide what we discuss in the space, whether it’s an issue to unpick, a provocation or a burning question.

With all this and maybe even a surprise performance along the way, get ready for a day of thought-provoking conversation and inspiring ideas.

Spots are limited so we recommend booking early.

BSL interpreted Performances Our BSL performances are interpreted by a BSL signer. They use sign language to communicate what is sung and/or spoken by artists on stage.

What will be discussed?

The morning will focus on two key areas:

  • Inspiring programmes happening across England – from rural West Somerset to urban Blackpool, to inner city London.
  • The state of youth dance – focussing on progression routes, barriers and access. How can we collaborate and connect to support all our young people?

The afternoon will have no fixed agenda – you’ll decide what’s discussed. When registering you’ll be asked to put forward a topic of discussion. You’ll then come together in groups to look at these topics.

Heath & Access Requirements
