Getting to Sadler's Wells

Sadler's Wells Theatre & the Lilian Baylis Studio

Rosebery Avenue
London EC1R 4TN

Sadler's Wells is committed to minimising the environmental impacts of its operations, and we hope you will join us in our aims to improve sustainability when you plan your journey to all our venues.

We are very well served by public transport, with tubes and trains nearby, buses stopping outside, and cycle routes and parking all around. Full details are below.

By Bus

Numbers 19, 38 and 341 travel from the West End to the theatre's own bus stop. Many buses travel from Waterloo, Liverpool Street, Euston and Kings Cross stations to the Angel.

By Tube

Angel (Northern Line City Branch) is a 250-metre walk from Sadler's Wells. Trains run every few minutes northbound to Kings Cross and Euston, and southbound to Bank and London Bridge. For up to date Tube information or to plan your journey, visit Journey Planner.

By Bike

There are plenty of bike racks outside and opposite the theatre. There are several Cycle Hire stations within 5 minutes walk.

By Car

There are no turns into St. John St from Pentonville, City and Goswell Roads. The easiest route is from Pentonville Road into the west side of Claremont Square and down Amwell Street.

By Coach

If you are travelling by coach we would be grateful if you could take note of the following, and pass this information on to your coach driver:

• There is a limited amount space for coaches to park on Rosebery Avenue

• There are double yellow lines along most of the road outside the theatre, and there is also a bus stop. Please ask your drivers not to park in the bus stop or on the double yellow lines as it causes a great deal of congestion.

• We would also request that coach drivers switch their engines off when parked outside the theatre. Sadler's Wells is located in a residential area and we are keen to keep any kind of disturbance to our neighbours, particularly engine noise and pollution, to a minimum.

Congestion Charge

Congestion Charge

Sadler's Wells, the Lilian Baylis Studio and the Peacock Theatre are all inside the congestion charge zone. If you want to drive in the congestion charge zone between 7am - 10pm every day, except Christmas Day (25 Dec) you will have to pay the £15.00 charge. There are some exemptions and discounts. For more information and to find out how to pay, visit Transport for London.

Sadler's Wells is just inside the zone, depending where you are coming from it is possible to park outside the zone with a short walk to the theatre - this is not so easy at the Peacock Theatre. The nearest car park to Sadler's Wells outside the congestion charge zone is in Parkfield Street, off Liverpool Road.

In addition to the the Congestion Charge, the Ultra Low Emission Zone operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

On-street free parking in Hardwick Street and other streets off Rosebery Avenue after 6.30pm Mon-Fri and from 1.30pm on Saturdays (heavy fines apply to parking in residents bays).
