Located on The Dance Floor at Sadler’s Wells East in Stratford, these sessions are perfect for all skill levels and ages, whether you’re after a reason to get up from the desk, or live local and want to try something new.
With classes in a range of genres, boost your energy, meet new people and build your dance skills with us.
Our sessions are adapted for seated exercise, making them accessible for everyone.

Join us for
Flamenco: A welcoming class for beginners or improvers. Led by Lucia Caruso, she will will guide you step by step through the fundamentals of Flamenco movement and the culture. Give it a try and enjoy the many benefits of Flamenco Dance like improved posture, balance, memory, coordination, strength and socialisation. Lucia has taught all over the world and taught for Strictly Come Dancing and English National Ballet to name a few.
Indian Contemporary and Bollywood: Led by Showmi Das, expect a joyful and energising class where you will explore expressive storytelling through movement, combining vibrant Bollywood routines with graceful Classical and rhythmic Folk dance elements. Showmi is a freelance south asian dance practitioner, who has trained in the Indian Classical Dance style of Kathak as well as Bengali Folk Dance.
Lindy Hop and Vernacular Jazz: Join us for an energetic and soulful African American art form that developed alongside jazz music. You will learn how to move to jazz and blues through some improvisation, classic steps, choreography and a lot of play. Led by Korantema Anyimadu, who has taught at swing dance festivals across Europe and is known for her uplifting and joyful style.
House and Waacking – Step into the groove:
Join House of Suraj for a dynamic session of club-style dance inspired by house and waacking, drawing on the energy and themes of the V&A East Music is Black exhibition.
This uplifting and welcoming workshop celebrates Black music and movement culture through rhythm, groove, and community.

Argentine Tango:
Join Anna Alvarez for a rich and connected dance session rooted in the African, Indigenous, and European traditions of Buenos Aires. You will learn how to move with presence and sensitivity through Tango technique, improvisation, and playful exploration, blended with Feldenkrais and Contemporary Dance principles. Feldenkrais is a gentle movement practice that develops awareness and ease to improve how we move, feel, and learn. Anna Alvarez is a dancer, choreographer, movement director, and Feldenkrais Practitioner, whose work draws on her Argentine heritage and a joyful commitment to embodied learning.
Rock and Come in:
Step into the rhythm and style of two iconic music genres in this Lovers Rock and Ska dance taster class full of Caribbean and British Black cultural history led by artist Julene Robinson whose work is accessible, joyful, and rooted in cultural storytelling. Rock and Come in and join us on the Dance Floor for a good ole time.

Do I need any existing dance experience?
No experience needed. Whether you’re a seasoned dancer or just looking to try something new, our friendly instructors will guide you every step of the way.

Where are the classes?
The classes are located on The Dance Floor at Sadler’s Wells East, a public performance space in the venue’s light filled foyer.

Are the classes free?
These classes are free to attend. You’ll be asked to register your details on arrival at the Welcome Desk. No pre-booking is available, so we recommend arriving early to avoid missing out as spaces are limited.
What should I bring?
Bring comfortable clothing, a bottle of water and your enthusiasm. We also recommend sneakers or comfortable shoes, especially for the hip hop workshops.
I have access needs, are these classes suitable for me?
Our lunchtime dance classes are inclusive for all.
Our styles are adapted for seated exercise, making it accessible for everyone, regardless of physical ability.
What are the facilities at the venue?
Toilets are available on level 0, including accessible and gender-neutral toilets.
What ages are these classes suitable for?
These are family friendly workshops, but no unaccompanied young people under the age of 18.
Am I able to attend only part of a session?
We understand that it maybe hard to for you to enjoy the full hour, so if you need to slip away, please make sure you slow your heart rate and do a quick stretch to avoid injury.
Is there food and drink available at the venue?
There is a water fountain for you to fill up your drink bottle.
Food and drink will be available to purchase from The Well and the Park Kitchen and Bar in the foyer.
