What to Expect:

  • A family milogna to start the day where parents, carers and their littles ones can dance together and learn some tango moves.
  • Watch artists from the Tango community unfold everything tango is and what it’s becoming in two workshops in various different styles of Tango: Tango for stage and a Tango Salon
  • A social dance floor open to everyone guided by the DJ
  • Performances from couples and an excerpt of “Kueyen” a new Dance theatre work with Tango and contemporary dance

New to tango? Perfect! Our open level classes throughout the day will have you dancing within the hour on the dance floor.

What is a Milonga?

A milonga is three things at once: a social event, a music style, and a way of dancing. In Buenos Aires, when someone says “vamos a la milonga”, they’re usually talking about a gathering where people meet to dance tango. At its core, a milonga is where tango truly lives. Beyond performances and shows, it’s in these dance halls – sometimes elegant salons, sometimes modest neighbourhood clubs – where locals and visitors share the floor.

Who is the Takeover for?

Everyone! First-timers, seasoned dancers and everyone in between!
No need to bring a partner, just come ready to move or watch.

What do I wear?

Every shade of blue. From sky to midnight, come dressed in the colours of the Río de la Plata.Wear any shoes you feel comfortable in – heels, jazz shoes, dance shoes, flat shoes or socks. We do suggest avoiding trainers, or rubber soled shoes.
