Benji Reid / Factory International Find Your Eyes
Hard-hitting tales unfold through a striking blend of photography, choreography and theatre
Pioneer of hip hop theatre turned award-winning photographer Benji Reid draws from his well of life experiences, exploring vulnerability, tragedy and triumph through the photographer’s lens.
Extraordinary performers from a range of disciplines and photography are brought together to create images in real time in front of the audience. Conflict meets beauty and the stage becomes his studio as he opens up on the most moving episodes of his life.
Benji’s Afro-futurist imagery takes us on a behind-the-scenes emotional rollercoaster, exploring how we make sense of the world through our stories and our art.
Commissioned by Factory International Manchester, Internationaal Theater Amsterdam and Black Achievement Month and Taipei Performing Arts Center. Produced by Factory International, Manchester.
Header image description: The background is blue and there is a white rectangle of light in the centre. Crouching in the centre of this rectangle is a performer with a big bubble on their head and so it’s difficult to make out their features. They are wearing a green outfit with lots of detail. It gives a feeling of a frog underwater.
