An ode to England through the eyes of a new generation of young dancers

Award-winning choreographer and composer Hofesh Shechter has been appointed as Guest Artistic Director of National Youth Dance Company (NYDC) for 2026/27.

Artistic Director of Hofesh Shechter Company and a Sadler’s Wells Associate Artist, Hofesh is recognised for his boundary-breaking work across both stage and screen. Join us as he collaborates with NYDC’s young people to reimagine his compelling work, From England with Love.

Exploring the multi-layered complexity of our intricate and beautiful country, the work was originally created for Nederlands Dans Theater in 2021, and then reimagined for Shechter II 2024, Hofesh Shechter Company’s professional development programme. Through Shechter’s distinct choreography, NYDC will delve into England’s paradox – a country shaped by rich traditions and a complex history. As the dancers embark on a search for identity and belonging, they explore what it means to be shaped by the place they call home.

Accompanied by a dynamic score that blends English composers with Hofesh’s own composition of rock, choral voices and electronics, From England with Love is a playful and poignant portrait of a country in flux – seen through the energy, curiosity and perspective of a new generation.
