Roberta Jean Ways of Being
A cosmic adventure and love letter to those who have experienced depression and struggled with suicidal thoughts
Informed by historic therapeutic practices and looking to alternative healing methods, this work is a tender and euphoric dance full of hope, inviting the audience to reflect on their own thoughts and memories.
Award-winning choreographer Roberta Jean is an artist whose work and life has been shaped by her experience of a neuroendocrine disease that impacts mental health. Ways of Being draws on a rich collection of restorative sources from psychedelic therapy and witchcraft, to botany and knowledge about the interplay between the brain and hormones.
Featuring an ensemble of extraordinary dance artists that include long term collaborator Stephanie McMann as well as Katye Coe, Maëva Berthelot and Nicole Nevitt. Ways of Being brings into focus the poetic and visceral nature of Roberta Jean’s choreographic practice.

A Relaxed Performance is a less formal theatre experience for anyone who would benefit from a more relaxed atmosphere to enjoy a show. They support noise and movement within the auditorium during a show, re-entry when needed so house lights are left on throughout, and a separate chill-out space for anyone who might need it at any time during their visit. We also provide a Visual Story so people can familiarise themselves with the theatre and key details about the show in advance. You might also like
