Four pairs of dancers wearing skin-coloured leotards hold dance poses in front of a black background

A breathtaking journey that traverses life, emotion, and the fragility of joy.

Delay the Sadness is the latest creation by dancer and choreographer Sharon Eyal for S-E-D.

The piece marks the company’s return to Sadler’s Wells following their Olivier Award-winning performance Into the Hairy and immersive dance show R.O.S.E in 2025. S-E-D is joined by Josef Laimon as composer, following their successful collaboration on ima for GöteborgsOperans Danskompani.

Based in France, dance company S-E-D was born out of a decades-long creative collaboration between Eyal and her partner Gai Behar. Over the past two decades the pair have collaborated on projects with some of the leading dance venues across the globe, including the widely acclaimed trilogy Love Cycle.

They appear in different dance poses, always connected to their partner through holding hands, holding at the waist, and grabbing at the neck.

About the contender

Born in Jerusalem, Sharon Eyal danced with the Batsheva Dance Company from 1990 – 2008 before starting as a choreographer with the company. In 2005 she joined creative forces with her partner Gai Behar, a producer and curator of multidisciplinary art event within the Tel Aviv nightlife scene. After years of creative collaboration, they formally launched their dance company S-E-D in 2013.

An internationally renowned duo, Eyal and Behar have worked with organisations such as Paris Opera, Nederlands Dans Theater and Staatsballett Berlin. The pair have crossed the boundaries of dance into arts, fashion and music, working with Christian Dior Couture and the music label YOUNG (including artists such as Ben UFO and Jamie xx).

“Continuation of life after death.
Continuation of sadness and purity.
Continuation of mother.
emotions
memories
I remember, recall, imagine, dream
Dancing… breathing… suffocating… stopping”

A hot commodity on the European dance circuit.
