Ballet with attitude
2025 is bursting with ballet at Sadler’s Wells. Scottish Ballet brings Twice Born, featuring a new commission from the Olivier Award-winning Dickson Mbi and a high energy performance inspired by Pedro Almodóvar, Bob Fosse and Joan Rivers.
Modern dance masters Merce Cunningham and William Forsythe are celebrated on stage by Lyon Opera Ballet (as part of Van Cleef & Arpels Dance Reflections Festival) and English National Ballet respectively.
There is ballet for our youngest audiences with English National Ballet’s My First Swan Lake and balletLORENT’s Snow White (with an additional 16 + version for those looking for something a little less innocent).
We welcome back Northern Ballet with their adaptation of Jane Eyre and Birmingham Royal Ballet’s younger sibling BRB2 performs at Sadler’s Wells East in Carlos Acosta’s Ballet Celebration – Diaghilev & the Birth of Modern Ballet.
Ballet goes international with Ballet BC, Canada’s leading contemporary dance company, who take on a Double Bill from Crystal Pite and Johan Inger, and Ballet Flamenco de Andalucía visit as part of the 2025 Flamenco Festival.
This summer the dance form brings a whole new dimension to the raw energy and emotion of rock icons Pete Townshend and The Who, in Quadrophenia, a Mod Ballet. A rich, orchestral version of the album recorded by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra is the backdrop for this genre-defying production with costume design by Paul Smith.
We welcome back London City Ballet with Momentum in the autumn. The former resident company of Sadler’s Wells returns after a staggering inaugural year that included a global tour through Asia, America and Europe.
Then to round off the year Matthew Bourne’s New Adventures returns following Swan Lake, the best-selling show in Sadler’s Wells’ history. The company presents another Olivier Award-winning smash-hit, The Red Shoes in December.
Our ballet performances are big, bold and beautiful.
