Breakin' Convention — International Festival of Hip Hop Dance Theatre

Breakin' Convention is the critically acclaimed festival of hip hop dance theatre which has been running at Sadler's Wells since 2004. Featuring the best hip hop dance theatre performers from around the world and around the corner, Breakin' Convention has toured all over the UK and presented two massively successful runs at the Apollo Theater in Harlem, New York.

Curated and hosted by Sadler's Wells Associate Artist and UK hip hop theatre pioneer Jonzi D, Breakin' Convention has played host to some of the world's most influential acts including Project Soul (South Korea), Clash 66 (France/Germany), ILL Abilities (International), Flying Steps (Germany), Salah (France) and The Electric Boogaloos (USA), and has kick started the careers of many UK crews including ZooNation, Boy Blue Entertainment and Flawless.

Breakin' Convention is not just a show, it's an experience! Dozens of extra events take place all over the building including workshops, film screenings, DJ demos, impromptu foyer freestyle sessions and even incredible works of graffiti art in the ultimate celebration of hip hop culture.
