Care seeks a cure in a breakthrough revamped
Internationally acclaimed choreographer Jasmin Vardimon MBE returns with Lullaby, based on the 2003 piece that marked her breakthrough, garnering several awards and her selection as an Associate Artist at Sadler’s Wells. Over two decades later, she revisits and expands that world with fresh insight, renewed urgency and a bold new vision for the stage.
Against the stark backdrop of a hospital ward, Lullaby explores the fragile dualities of human life: joy and despair, vulnerability and resilience, sickness and wellbeing. Through striking imagery, visceral performance and Vardimon’s signature wit, the work explores what sits at the heart of society: care, health and human connection.
Returning to the abstract world that defined her career, Vardimon asks: what does it truly mean to care - for ourselves, for one another, and for the systems that support our health and wellbeing?
Lullaby is co-commissioned by Sadler’s Wells, Ashford Borough Council and DanceEast.
