Olive Hardy Artist-Led Session [in person]

Olive Hardy workshop

A studio workshop for professional dancers to explore an improvisational solo practice in a group context.

Olive’s choreographic practice stems from an interest in process and its ability to function as performance, working with improvisation, instruction, and decision-making. She uses improvisation as a mode of research to move through and into uncertainty, abandonment, grounding, and rest. Her work explores our collective relationships to control and celebrates our messy attempts to organise.

In this workshop Olive invites you to enter a space where instruction becomes embodiment, loosening your attachment to your usual movement aesthetic to explore structured improvisations together. Through these experiments we invite the possibility of transformation, agency, and decision-making, creating a process that stays alive and responds to change. This workshop focusses on solo practice, which will build in relation to and with the awareness of being in a shared space as part of a group. We will explore the dynamic qualities that are experienced when witnessing and being part of a collective body moving through differing states, efforts, and timings, simultaneously.

This workshop is open to anyone interested in choreography, performance, and improvisation.

Olive is leading an online version of this session via Zoom from 6 – 7.15 pm on Tuesday 12 March for those that cannot attend in-person or would prefer to join remotely. Please click here for further information and to book.
