A dance piece that breathes new life into the possibilities of performance
In Christos Papadopoulos’ new work, memories and sounds, voices and bodies, all resonate like musical instruments, gradually building toward a shared exhilaration. The minimalist Greek choreographer explores how movement becomes a song, one that pulses through the bodies of the dancers to the bodies of the audience. My Fierce Ignorant Step is an optimistic, extroverted and enchanting piece about our passionate beginnings, and the first times we met, laughed and lived.
10 dancers move as one on stage, marching with eyes wide open to what lies ahead. Their breath becomes a voice that guides the steps: sometimes big, other times small, but always firm and determined, almost carefree. It’s this breath, this voice, this sound, that turns into movement, a galloping that constantly swells.
This is Papadopoulos’ first piece at Sadler’s Wells after winning The Rose International Dance Prize in 2025 with LARSEN C.
